If you're just getting into SQL, I'd definitely go with MySQL. There's a lot
more support for it, and more CGI and PHP scripts are made to interact with
it.
You can download the MySQL package from the Cobalt download page. Slides
right in nice and easy on a RaQ4 and PHP doesn't need to be recompiled after
it's in. Do a search in the archives for something like "15 steps to put
MySQL on a RaQ4". Can't remember exactly what I named it, but I wrote
step-by-step instructions on how to set it up, change the password, break
it, uninstall it, re-install it, reset the password - it was one helluva
weekend and thankfully I kept notes. *grin*
