To answer my own question, in case anyone is ever in need of this info, I
found that the webmin software (http://www.webmin.com ) has excellent Perl
routines for reading and editing Apache conf files. They would make an
excellent starting point for any project you have where parsing httpd.conf
is necessary. I also noticed that there are some configuration files in the
package for Cobalt Linux, so I can see that someone has at least tried to
run Webmin on a Cobalt box...
