For some reason they only seem to do this in the US - AOL in the UK and
Europe allow their clients to use external SMTP and POP servers.  Of course,
the one major disadvantage of having mail forwarded on to an AOL account is
that AOL also prevent you from changing the out-going email address - so
when you send, you always have to send as
[feckinglongunprofessionallookingnumber]@aol.com - instead of
user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx  :-(     Personally, I think that the best solution is
to advise clients to get a new ISP.
