If you really want this info to be hidden, you should be more paranoia and also remove the welcome message that your Cobalt box sends you when you telnet to your box. It says something like:
Cobalt Linux release 5.0 (Pacifica)
Kernel 2.2.14C10 on an i586
You can simply remove this tekst by renaming your file /etc/issue.net
Or alter the text to something unusual.
Because the first hacker-step is to telnet to you box, to see what the welcome message tells.
Warning: this will void your warranty.
On the other hand: a hack will void your warranty too ;-)
