[cobalt-users] .htaccess

I have never been so frustrated in my life! (I think)
My raq4 just does not recognize .htaccess files, I have been through all
apache
documentation, have installed the patch, have followed the "this works
guarantied on a
raq 4" instructions and still, I drove the guys who host my raq4 nuts
for the last month and
they told me that they can not help and I have to get help from Cobalt
direct because
they might be aware of this problem!
Anyway I would like to password protect a virtual site directory, and it
used to be so
simple, all you needed to do was put the .htaccess file into the
directory by FTP and all
was fine. how to do this on the raq 4, I have not altered any .conf
files as I think that what
I want is pretty basic.
But I cant get it going is there anyone out there who could help to set
this up?
