I know this has been discussed on here before, but it wasn't really
explained too well. My problem is sendmail crashes every other day. Before I
reinstalled sendmail, it would crash ever half hour or sooner. It got to the
point I created a cron job to restart it and even a half hour cron job
couldn't keep up.
In the previous post it mentioned changing a couple settings and gave a
brief description of the settings, but I don't see anything in my config
that relates to one of the settings except about 24 timeout lines of which 2
are uncommented. The guy suggesting this fix said it was a spool timeout
setting that was per default 60m and should be 10m or less. I've seen
positive results from other users from this, but I can't find the spool
timeout setting that was discussed.
The mail server downtime has been causing a lot of complaints from our
users, especially recently. It has even gotten to the point to where
restarting sendmail is part of my mail routine now.
