Re: [cobalt-users] Newbie: Where are the logs?

Okay - I did find those, and have been through them, didn't see anything that appeared out of the ordinary. Fortunately the Raq serves only our single site, and only the website, so very, very low activity. I am starting to hand out web-only accounts to various people on staff for Internet/Intranet page development, but they don't get email or shell access, web pages only. So - the logs are easy enough to spot unusual activity in. For the newbie, are there any other things (that you can list off easily) that I should watch out for?

And, Yes - I've been patching; but I'm only up to that 3.0.xx version from a couple months back - the one that came out after that generated so much email in this list that I waited for a bit... Guess I get to catch up.

BTW: Does that funky Legato backup work for anyone? I've only got about 200Mb of user data on the server, and the backup just don't work anymore, unless I back up each site individually. I'm about to give up and just TAR it off, and yank the Tars by FTP, but it'd be nice to use the built-in function.

Thanks for the reply!

Well, i'd note that by the time you see something in the logs you're
probably already in trouble -/

/var/log

also running 'last' will tell you about recent logins (wtmp is in a
compressed format)
