If you ever get either of the following error messages from an Email Client:
1) Username or Password was rejected ...
-ERR [SYS/TEMP] maillock error 4: '/var/spool/mail/(username)'
or
2) TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server.
then
-a- enable telnet for root only.
-b- reboot server.
-c- telnet in as root and immediately do the next two steps...
-d- rm /var/spool/mail/.*pop*
-e- rm /var/spool/mail/*lock
