Brian,
        Thank you for your prompt reply!  the symptoms, as i see them:

        1/ i get a "Could not connect to ... Cause:connection timed out 
(10060)" from my eudora email.
        2/ the box fails to respond to a ping.
        3/ at the server, the led display is sometimes frozen.
        4/ quite often even if the qube has not frozen, it still requires 
a full power down before it will start up again.

        we purchased it in july this year, it has 64 Meg ram, and 13 gig 
hard drive.. we are conected via a utopia router, 56k modem line permanent 
connection to the net. It is not a high demand.

does this help. i am not in the same state as the unit so i will have to 
wait till my work time tomorrow.
