strange that the rpm deletes the datafiles, too. that sucks. imagine
upgrading your spread sheet and it deletes all business calculations of
the last 10 years...

pgsql has a home dir in /home (but i don`t know if the data itself is
stored there). you don`t even have a backup of /home ?
