[cobalt-users] Arkeia and Legato

I realise the subject of scheduled backups has been done to death already on
this list, and I have trawled painfully through the archive, arkeia's site
and legato's site. I just need to convince myself of what I understand by
asking for confirmation from this list:

1, With arkeia and legato, as pre-installed on the RAQ4, these are of no use
to you at all unless you also happen to own a separate server, on which to
backup.

2. do either of these solutions insist on backing up to tape, or could you
back up to hard drive on that separate server.

3. are their any *cheap* backup solutions - i.e. providers of space only
that could be used with arkeia /legato, or other solutions entirely....that
come ready to roll out of the box with support (Amanda seems to be quite
something to take on...)

4. Have I missed something, or does Cobalt not provide a pre-installed,
*secure* means of scheduled backups that can be sent encrypted to another
server/FTP space and still be safe?
