Subject: [cobalt-users] Slight DNS Problem
Date: Wed, 22 Nov 2000 12:09:52 -0600
I've been grappling with this since I got the raq3i I'm using now.
Everything works fine and all the sites seem to be coming up without a
problem, but here's the little thing I'm running into:
The raq is named "raq3.jaxlegend.com" in the setup. The "main site" has
216.219.239.87 as its IP. I also have www.jaxlegend.com in the DNS setup,
with 216.219.229.4 as its IP. When somone types www.jaxlegend.com into
their web browser to get to my site, the address in the browser changes to
(yup, you guessed it) "raq3.jaxlegend.com". I don't understand why this
happens, and I've been tearing my hair out for months trying to figure it
out. The DNS table for jaxlegend.com looks like this:
Start Of Authority
jaxlegend.com -> 216.219.229.4
raq3.jaxlegend.com -> 216.219.239.87
www.jaxlegend.com -> 216.219.229.4
216.219.239.87/24 -> raq3.jaxlegend.com
216.219.229.4/24 -> www.jaxlegend.com
jaxlegend.com mail is sent to the High priority mail server
raq3.jaxlegend.com
If anyone can see any problems with this setup, please let me know. I have
been trying to understand the problem for a long time now, and I just don't
get it.
Thanks,
DJ Busch
