[cobalt-users] [RaQ3i] main ip transition

Hey Folks,

My ISP is asking me to change some IP numbers originally alloted to me,
as they were swallowed up just recently by a bigger fish....

I'm just wondering what the smoothest method is going to be in
transitioning the main IP number to a new one? There is one other site
that is attached to this same main IP number, wich I also intend to
"split-off" and give it's own IP number. I only have eight sites on my
unit,
and no other IP's need to be changed.

I know that there should be a way that I can make these changes such
that the transition will be pretty seamless -- something about adding
virtual-host aliases to the httpd.conf file until the DNS changes have a
change to fully propogate out to the wider net? My ISP techie is
telling me that he can't find some kind of "linuxconf" file, and wants
to do some things with a "/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0"
files.

Can anybody provide some pointers on making this transition and not
screwing me server completely?

Thanks,

~ Theo
