[cobalt-users] POP before SMTP

I am using RAQ2 with pop before smtp 1.2 and I have a client that is having
intermittent problems concerning his email. Sometimes he is able to send via
the raq 2 smtp server and other times outlook express denies sending his
email. The error message is 550, which you will know.

I have asked him to test the smtp server at the msdos prompt by typing:

c:\windows>Telnet www.domainname.co.uk 25

www.domainname.co.uk ESMTP Sendmail 8.9.3/8.9.3; Wed, 22 Nov 2000 17:49:22 G

221 www.launchsite.co.uk closing connection

It seems the smtp is working for this domain although outlook express is
unable to send the email.

Consequently I tried typing in his ISPs smtp settings for this account but
the smtp server  rejected relaying although he was able to connect via
telnet again.

Some help would be appreciated or a work around the situation would be
appreciated.
