I've used WebBBS and it starts to be a real pain to maintain if you run more
than one forum.
WWWThreads is a fantastic forum with tons of features written in Perl w/ a
MySQL database.

Also YaBB is a good forum set, akin to WWWThreads but not quite as powerful.
Written in PHP using a flatfile database.
