I copied the config file from the appropriate majordomo subdir to my web
directory folder and then downloaded the same to my hdd. Here I was able to
modify the file. I then uploaded the new config to my web directory and
again using commander, copied this file to the appropriate location. This
seems to have worked.
So you used ftp. Okay. That's yet another workaround, as long as you
get the permissions right (an advantage of using Telnet -- I always
mess permissions up). :-)
What I need to know is how to ensure that list-owner address is set rightly
to the actual list owner.
The gui sets this to the site administrator. That person is
considered owner and admin of the lists on that site. That same
config file you edited has "owner" settings but we've never done
anything with that so I can't really be sure it would help you with
the Raq. But the site admin gets the advisories and error messages.
To do admin commands, you just need the list password and, to be
safe, you should add yourself as a subscriber to the list (you can
use your own email address). That's the way it's supposed to work,
anyway, in my experience.
