When you do what you have listed you get The page cannot be displayed, error.

Once you generate the request, send that to Thawte or whoever.
Once you get your key back from them, install it on the server.
Now... go to your NORMAL web site... http://www.securedomain.com
If you simply add the S in the https:// then it will become secure.
You dont need to upload different files for the secure server.
What you have on your main page, will simply turn secure by adding the s.
There is no secure.securedomain.com.
ALSO... you HAVE to use www.securedomain.com, you cant use
securedomain.com, because when you register the domain to get the key,
it has to match exactly.
