[cobalt-users] Frontpage Programs not working -- Answer from Cobalt

I just noticed the other day that the counters and stuff on the Cobalt
(using front page) have stopped working after the "security update"

I asked cobalt about it and here is the response I got..

"Front Page is supported to the extent that material can be
uploaded to the server using the program. Problems with scripts, counters,
and the like are considered to be problems with the code of the software
itself, and you would have to contact the software vendor directly for
assistance with these issues.

We are aware that the security update has caused some inconvenience, but
we had little choice but to issue an update, as the situation resolved by
the fix was worse. Prior to the fix, it was possible for a script on one
site to modify files belonging to another site on the server. That is why
the fix involved changing permissions on the files."

[Insert Rant]
Now I know this WAS working, and I have customers using these things
because they were available and working when they signed up for hosting.
Now.. without warning.. they have broken my stuff!

So.. I ASSUME they are telling me that this is something Microsoft has to
fix?

Does anyone else know a work around for this situation, or do I just need
to tell my paying customers that I can't do anyting about it.. sorry..
Guess you will have to take your business elsewhere. I suppose the other
option is to put an NT or 2000 web server up somewhere for these customers
to use. Does anyone know of a good front end for 2000 or NT?
[end Rant]
