Re: [cobalt-users] cannot send mail to domains not hosted on my RAQ4

This same thing happened to us with one of our Raq2's. We were really
confused, so we added a ton of domains in the field, like aol.com, msn.com,
...etc. Best thing to do first is open up the logs as root:
tail -f /var/log/messages
And let that shell stay open. In an new shell window with the last line
visible from your messages window, do this:
nslookup -query=MX domain.cxm xxx.xxx.x.xxx
where the x's is your nameserver. If all is Ok, you should get the nameserver,
mail server, and internet address. If not, you might have a bad DNS
entry if you get an error in messages like this:
Nov 13 22:00:05 ns1 named[318]: ns_forw: sendto([192.112.36.4].53): Network
is unreachable
where 192 is one of the root-servers.
I too would like to find out why this happens & how to fix it since our
box was also doing DNS and should have received all information necessary
via the GUI to notify the root-servers to send email; its all about the
MX and DNS records.
