Hi, I have a general question about multilingual domain names. Are registrars
such as register.com registering these kinds of names:
(cars_in_chineese_characters).com
(cars_in_chineese_characters).net
(cars_in_chineese_characters).org
with english dot suffixes while other registrars like the ones listed
at i-dns.net are registering the same domains but with the dot suffix
in the native language like this:
(cars_in_chineese_characters).com_equivalent_in_chineese_characters
(cars_in_chineese_characters).net_equivalent_in_chineese_characters
(cars_in_chineese_characters).org_equivalent_in_chineese_characters
If so, that would mean you would want to register you name with 2 different
registrars?
Also, when will the registrars be ready to actually use the multilingual
domains; at least register.com is not ready by giving this message:
Note: International character domain names are not yet functional on
the Internet and cannot be used for Web hosting, email services or any
other DNS related activity. At this time, the registry is only supporting
the registration of these domain names.
Thx,
