Lots of things it could be; do the multimeter test suggested.

Also, lots of equipment doesn't like the TrippLite stuff. I
used it for years, then finally trashed in forever in favor
of APC. In my experience, these things are car batteries
with electronics... not a lot of places to cut costs without
sacrificing something of value.

I'd seriously suggest slowly moving over to another brand
of UPS, or at the very least to a slightly more expensive
line of Tripplite stuff if you're married to it. You do get
what you pay for.
