I am attempting to upgrade a Qube 2700WG from 2.1GB to 13.6GB of HDD
capacity. There's just not really much you can do with a 2GB server these
days. Anyhow, I'm using a Western Digital 136AA 5400 RPM drive. I
installed it first in another RH Linux box alongside the original drive, and
after partitioning the drive similarly (exc. with a much larger /home) I
used rsync to transfer the file tree using switches that preserve file
permissions, ownership, devices, etc. After installing the new drive in the
Qube, however, the LCD will only read "Starting Up..." and the system will
not boot. The power and IDE connections are fine, and the system still
boots as per usual when the original drive is used. I am wondering if there
is either a BIOS issue with recognizing the new drive or if there is just no
way around acquiring the OS Restore CD. My concern here is that if I
purchase the OS Restore CD that it actually will allow this drive to work in
the Qube...no sense wasting a hundred bucks if it won't work anyway. Any
insight here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bryan S. Brandt
