I regularly check the linuxsecurity pages and get the Linux newsletter.
Is there a seperate list for cobalt security then?
So being as Cobalt is based on RedHat, then a RedHat update would be
safe?

Nope it's cobalt linux which is only based on redhat.

You might want to join the security list and/or join the linux community
and
monitor several sites for possible security problems.
