Now that is a laugh... Come on, no one is subsidizing the US's
infrastructure and bandwidth. What that is not entirely true.. I'm
sorry, competition and capitalism is subsidizing the US. How do you
figure that everyone "outside" the US is paying for transatlantic links?
Sure the majority of the sites on the net seem to be hosted in the US,
but we have a stronger infrastructure here.. Most 3rd world countries
have "State owned" telcos, and there is very little competition. Believe
me, we pay for what we use here. It is competition in the US that has
fostered the unending growth of bandwidth and telco infrastructure, not
hand outs from other countries.. No offense, but I could spend all week
handing out a laundry list of things that the US subsidizes outside of
our native soil. I really take issue with this claim.

We already pay our fair share. Again, the geographic location of a web
site has nothing to do with who pays for what. We are extremely
competitive over here, and it is that competition, along with hard work
that continues to the drive the markets.

Sure the prices will decrease in other nations, so long as competition
and economic growth flourish. Couple that with strict controls on
monopolies in the telco industry and you will see this trend continue.

We are at about $5/GB this is dictated by our costs as well as the
market. And when my bills come from our carriers, I fail to see any
credits for subsidies from countries outside the US.
