Hello, just installing some new software which requires Autoconf 2.3
or newer. We utilized upgrade directions for glibc, egcs, gcc, and libstdc++
from a recipie provided by Pierre Chopot/Kris Dahl originally meant
to upgrade MySql, php, & apache. When we do gcc -v, we get :
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/mipsel-redhat-linux/egcs-2.90.27/specs
gcc version egcs-2.90.27 980315 (egcs-1.0.2 release)
We downloaded autoconf-2.13 and did a ./configure, make, and make install.
Now, when we go back to do ./config for the new program, it still thinks
automake and alocal are missing, and when we do "make" we get:
cd . && autoconf
FATAL ERROR: Autoconf version 2.13 or higher is required for this script
make: *** [configure] Error 2
It has been recommended to upgrade to something like this:
gcc version egcs-2.90.29 980515 (egcs-1.0.3 release)
Though who knows if this will enable automake and Autoconf/GNU M4 to
create the new files and haven't found directions anywhere on the entire
Net for our machines.
Does anyone have a home-brewed recipie for upgrading our machines to
GNU m4, which is required by Autoconf 2.13? Searched the ftp directories
and only found autoconf 2.12-3.
Happy pre-Halloween Weekend :.),
