only sending to example@xxxxxxxxxxx don't arrive... and an error return on
the e-mail address wich sent...
I use Raq3i but I think a lot of this is applicable.
It seems like your domain isn't picking up email as a domain (just
through its web sites). Sometimes, this is a system or machine
problem and you may need help from whoever is managing the machine
(if that's the case for you). Most of the time, in my experience,
it's something very minor. For starters, check:
Is the www site set up to receive email for the entire domain? In the GUI.
Do the mx records point domain to domain (with no host-name) like this:
e-visus.com to the mail server e-visus.com (with no www)?
In the virtusertable, through Telnet, at the bottom where the domain
aliases for email acceptance is, does THAT show a line like
e-visus.com ~www.e-visus.com?
Sometimes the GUI has the acceptance box checked but it isn't in the
virtusertable (happens for a bunch of silly reasons but that's the
Raq). If the line isn't there, go to your GUI and uncheck the box for
that site receiving mail for the entire domain. Save the changes. And
then put the check back on and save changes again. See if the
virusertable has changed at all. If it doesn't, then go to the
control panel of your GUI, uncheck sendmail or email services and
save the changes and then go back and check it and save the changes.
That reboots your sendmail program and that actually fixes a bunch of
problems in my experience.
Finally, do you have this domain entered into your pop and relaying
"acceptable domains" lists in the email section of the control panel?
That's not supposed to be necessary but sometimes it can help.
The whole thing with email on the Raq, in my experience, is to try
and set as much as you can to the domain itself (without any host
name) and then set the site settings to pick up mail for that domain.
We find that this is the best approach to configuring it.
If none of this helps, then maybe someone else has ideas or maybe you
need to go to a technical support person near your machine.
question, do i have to edit the file named: "virtusertable" infact
on it e-mail accounts are named example@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I'd check these things first and then check with whatever tech
support you can find. I really don't see how virtusertable would be
causing this problem. This sounds like a domain problem or a more
serious problem with the way email is set up wherever you have this
machine.
Hope this helps.
