I've created a small network for my office at home, I have a Qube2 ISDN
acting as my proxy server to my ISP, a Win98 PC, a Win2000 laptop and an
iMac. I have updated my Qube2 to include all patches except the 3.x ones as
it specifies not to use these with an ISDN Qube.
The ISP side of things works great, the web server is fine, e-mail is
disabled for now... Samba files sharing for the Windows PCs is great and
works no problem... but AppleShare...
Whenever I enable AppleShare the Qube rattles the HDD for a few secs, then
goes quiet... I am unable to access any shares from my iMac OR my Windows PC
(via Samba) after a few minutes I get an e-mail from my Qube telling me that
there is a problem with AppleShare, and a check on the Active Monitor page
tells me "AppleShare has not been responding since (time it was started)"...
I then have to disable AppleShare and reboot the Qube before Samba starts
working again...
Now, I don't know a lot about Apple file sharing, but aren't you supposed to
configure AppleTalk zones? Do I have to do this via the shell, as there are
no options for AppleTalk via the browser interface?
Many thanks,
Dave Fisher
