RE: [cobalt-users] FTP in a telnet session

If you get into the FTP program, type help

You will get a list of options. Type help (option) for help on each option.

You can very easily figure the commands out from the help files.

I have used it before a few times. Server to server is very fast also.

Examples -
1. open ftp.cobalt.com - will open a session to ftp.cobalt.com, I do not
know what username or password to gain access.
2. bye - will close FTP and log you off the session.
3. get name.lst - will get the file name.lst and place it in your current
local directory.
4. put name.lst - will put the file on the remote servers current directory.

I hope this helps you get started.

Subject: [cobalt-users] FTP in a telnet session

Hi All,

I have never used FTP in a telnet session, I have always used WS_FTP on my
PC.

In my FTP program on my PC (WS_FTP), I can only upload and download to and
from my PC (local) to a server (remote).

Is it possible to transfer files directly between 2 different servers using
FTP?

If so, I will appreciate directions. I know how to telnet in and login to
FTP using the 'open' command, but I have never actually transferred any
files.

Thanks in advance.

Bill Micke
