Hello List,
A few month back, I installed PHP3(3.0.16) + Apache(1.3.12) + mySQL(3.22.32) from sources on my Qube
(recompiled everything). Now I would like to upgrade these (well at
least PHP) to the latest version.
I checked the archives and found two answers..M.Ackermann has one
which is quite simple, Geof Baysinger a more complicated one
involving extraction of apxs from an older version of Apache.. Plus
it seems there is a need for a Flex rpm. I've got a few questions:
1/What is this flex rpm and why is it necessary ?
2/May I upgrade PHP to 4 alone or do I need to upgrade Apache and
eventually mySQL ?
3/When using the source/compile method, I was told that upgrades
would be easier (vs using rpm's). Why ?
4/Could I re-use the exact same method I used a few month back with
the last releases of each product or are there any new issues that
could prevent me from doing so ? (I can provide that first method)
Thanks in advance :-)
