I'm not sure if this helpful or not, but I'll offer it up.
We created a host called parked.transcena.com. It shares its IP
address (216.234.175.33) with several other sites on our Raq4. What
we discovered is:
* if we turn on server-side includes for parked.transcena.com
* delete the default index.html file
* create an index.shtml file that uses <!--#echo var="HTTP_HOST" --> to
insert the appropriate hostname (see, for example, www.costellojeans.com.
Where the domain name appears, the above SSI command was in the index.shtml
file)
* Point all the parked domains at that IP address
Domains that don't actually exist on the Raq that are pointed at that
IP address come up with our nice-looking parked page. Domains that
do exist on the Raq, using the same IP address, come up with their
own stuff.
No changes to your configuration files are necessary, just some
judicious editing of your DNS stuff.
I think it's pretty nifty. Hope it helps someone else.
Michelle
