Well. I'm on my first week being a "RaQie" with the 4i and my co-lo
deal.
I just moved over a client site (caltaste.com), and uploaded his files
and scripts as the admin user for the site (not the RaQ admin).
The index.shtml page has Matt Wright's venerable counter.pl/.cgi text
counter script which is called via SSI.
Both SSI and cgi are enabled on the domain.
When you try to access the page, it gives an error:
00001[TextCounter Fatal Error: Could Not Increment Counter]
Now, normally this would be due to the "data" directory in the cgi-bin
not having 777 permissions, and perhaps the ssi page not having 755.
The script is working, SSI is working, but there seems to be a problem
with the script being able to "write" to the data text file to increment
it.
Further, on every other server since 1996 I've been able to "see" the
datafiles (i.e., "_index.shtml") in the directory via FTP with show
invisibles on.
Now, I can't see anything in there (folder counter says "0" files), but
if I try to delete the data folder I get a "contains files" error so I
can't delete it.
I've read through a few posts in the list archive, but haven't seen
anything which addresses this kind of problem. Or, I was unaware of the
thread and it applying to this problem.
Any help?
I'm almost to the point on this stuff of offering somebody here who is
expert on the RaQs a couple of hundred bucks to clue me in on why this
kind of thing works so differently than the Sun/Unix and Linux-based
environments I've grown accustomed to over the years.
Thanks for thoughts, or pointers.
Christopher
ps-- is there a Cobalt-RaQ based hosting company out there that provides
a wealth of help files for its users that maybe I could go peruse to get
a head start on this damn "newbie" phase....? Sh*t should work, and it
aint. :(
