Hello list.
I know some of you may flame me, but I have been trying to find info at
Cobalt archives and usually I find some very similar questions, but
ironically, all answers refer to the list. So, any help (and patience)
will be extremely appreciated. (More the help, patience is a matter of
vision).
I have a tuti-frutti menu of tasks, so choose the one you prefer.
I have to install on our Raq3 the following software:
Oracle 8i, (8.1.5.1),
Mysql 3.24
php 4.0.2
gd 1.8
freetype last version.
My "problems" are the followings:
To install Oracle, I need java 1.1.6v5, and see that java 1.2 is
installed. Is java 1.2 needed for our/your software in the machine ?
To install Oracle, I need X11 server. Definitively seem not to be
installed. Have you any recommendations to install it, some
version ? some sources ? some special patchs ?
I am going to install php4 as a executable CGI (maybe as a
module later ?) , so no problems for the moment, except maybe
the fact I have to touch the httpd.conf. Any comments on this ?
We need to recompile Apache with a special library module .so for
an external audit system (Webfacts, if you know) for an important
client. Any inconvenients ? any comments on where is Apache
source ?
Does the SSL part in the same apache, or is it as a "different"
software installed elsewhere. What do I have to care to have
everything still working ?
Are there 2 httpd daemons running: one for port 80 and 1 for SSL
port ? or is it the same httpd for both ?
Is MYSQL used by our administrative system ( btw I dont think so
since there are no DB declared, but who knows...) ? to install the
new version from zero.
Which Linux distribution is installed in the system ? Is it a Red hat
since RPM is working on it ?
Thanks a lot.
