Unless your site is signed by a certificate authority such as 
VeriSign or Thawte that is recognized by the end users browser
they will generally get a pop-up message. 

While you're correct in that encryption is encryption, have fun
explaining that to Joe Blow user when he calls up griping about
the little pop-up warning just like the 2,000 other calls before
him.  ;-)
