RE: [cobalt-users] Mail Problem

Christian,

Although it will not generate an error message, you can stop messages
destine for one domain being delivered to another by using an alias or a
catch-all alias.

In your example, even though you have 'info@xxxxxxxxxxx' you can ensure that
messages sent to 'info@xxxxxxxxxxx' are received by someone at domain2.com,
either by including the specific alias, say in John's account
'jo@xxxxxxxxxxx' of 'info@xxxxxxxxxxx'. To stop ALL instances of 'wrong'
addresses, which happen to be on other accounts, include the catch-all
'@domain2.com' in one of the domain2 mailboxes - that way anything addressed
to a domain2.com address which doesn't already exist in domain2.com as an
account or an alias will still be received by a domain2.com mailbox, and not
bounced, or delivered to another domain mailbox, where that domain has a
indentical account name.

I found this to be particularly useful where both domain1.com and
domain2.com have a user (say) John Smith. Domain1.com defaults his user
name to jsmith@xxxxxxxxxxxx Domain2.com now cannot use account name jsmith
(as it already exists on the server), and so uses jsmith2@xxxxxxxxxxxx Now
put an alias of jsmith@xxxxxxxxxxx in jsmith2's mail account, and
jsmith@xxxxxxxxxxx and jsmith@xxxxxxxxxxx will receive their correct mail.

By putting the catch-all '@domain2.com' in the jsmith2 mail account, John
now received all mail intended for someone at domain2.com, even where the
email address is old, mis-spelled, or has been guessed, like 'sales', 'info'
etc.
