[cobalt-users] Network Mask/Bit Question

Hi Group,

Thanks for your replies. I've learned from others what's generally occurring
regarding this issue with separate network masks on a RaQ3. I'm wondering if
anyone else has experienced this dilemma and/or any additional
suggestions/fixes?

Main system IP - network mask = 255.255.252.0
Subsequent (usable) IP's - network mask = 255.255.255.192

Apparently, the raq only allows each nic to have one netmask, which is
programmed in the main admin GUI under the network settings tab. In my case,
the main system IP is on a separate network mask from the remaining system
IP's added to the system by the colo. When domains are added to the system
using one of these *other* IP's, they're added with a network mask equal to
that of the mask configured for the main IP as defined in the network settings
tab. -Meaning, all subsequent IP's are aliased with an incorrect network mask.
The work around has been to telnet into the machine and manually edit each
configuration file (/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts) created by the GUI when
adding a new domain/IP. What would be a valid fix? Would it work if I
assigned the machine a new IP from one of the (62 IP's) assigned to the
system? I'd also change the network mask to the new mask, but what about the
gateway? I'm stumped on what would be the best way to proceed, any ideas or
suggestions?

Thanks again in advance for any input.

Best Regards,
-David
