I had a Nasraq that had an uptime of about a year.
Most of the Cobalts that we sold we sold to clients who thought that
rebooting a machine is *the* catch-all solution to anything. I will never
forgive Microsoft for that teaching people that mentality.
Its funny--the servers that I admin'd for clients always had a much higher
uptime then machines run by the clients themselves. That's actually proof
that it is a good idea to have a professional run your information services.
I have had a couple linux boxes with uptimes of like a year.
NT the best I have achieved is probably about 3 months. Actually it looks
like my home 2000 machine has about a 3 month uptime. I think it got scared
because I said the next time I have to reboot it or it crashes, I am
throwing in the Mandrake network install disk.
Actually take a look at www.uptimes.net where that is all they do--keep
track of uptimes.
