Hello,

Apologies for not mentioning this in my previous post to
[cobalt-users]...The following is a cross-post from the [cobalt-developers]
list in relation to the recently released RaQ3 All System 3.0.1-6449 Cobalt
patch which upgrades proftpd.

Installing this patch will completely disable the ability to CHMOD files via
FTP on ALL your virtual sites. I have determined a fix which is detailed
below:

I've found it...

edit your /etc/proftpd.conf (make a backup copy first!) and add the
following after the lines that set User and Group to nobody:

<Global>
        AllowChmod              on
</Global>

Now restart inetd:
etc/rc.d/init.d/inet restart

That's it. It now allows CHMOD for all sites by default. It's amazing what
you find when you dig around a bit. It's unfortunate that Cobalt didn't
bother to.
