Greetings,
Sunday evening I modified my domain record for my primary site to point to
my RaQ2 instead of my ISP's DNS.
Monday morning my mail stopped coming in, I realized this Monday evening and
looked at my DNS settings on my server and did not have an MX record for my
primary domain.
I added the MX record and added an e-mail alias @muldooninc.com as a
catch all for the domain. I then went back to Network Solutions and changed
my DNS for the site BACK to my ISP's DNS (while I tried to figure this out).
Now if I send mail to anything@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and look at the message source
I see it coming through ns1.muldooninc.com and can retrieve it from my RaQ
pointing Outlook Express to my primary IP and using admin as the user.
So my confusion is...was putting in the MX record and alias the correct
thing to do and had I not modified my DNS with NetSol the second time would
those changes eventually have taken effect.
And, since my RaQ seems to be accepting mail at the moment will my second
modify 'catch-up' and start sending stuff through my ISP again.
If so, do I just wait for that to happen then I can assume that since my RaQ
is accepting mail correctly today it will continue to, and in a couple of
days I can modify my DNS with NetSol and try this again.
Thanks in advance.
