Is it necessary to uninstall the old POP-before-SMTP before doing the
security update?

That 1.2-4 only works with the Qpopper 3.0 that has given so many RaQ2 users
trouble.
I think you need to uninstall 1.2 before doing the OS 3.0 update. Cobalt
didn't do this when they "fixed" my server and put Qpopper 2.53 in. Now I
have no more POP before SMTP. :-(
