Obviously the kernel and much of the underlying software that runs on the
Raq3 is GPL'd and hence is encouraged to be copied and used. I am not sure
what license Cobalt releases their OS under. If it is not GPLed (which I
think it isn't) its a bit of a slap in the face to the Linux community.
I.e. they'll use the GPL'd code to their own benefit but they'll be damned
if they're going to open source their own stuff.

I was thinking it'd be pretty hip if they open-sourced the Chilisoft stuff.
Seems like the natural progression of where that should go. Actually this
is precisely the reason why we chose VA Linux over Cobalt, or even IBM,
Dell, HP, etc. is that they are helping us out more, as a developer of Linux
solutions. They are funding Sourceforge, MySQL, etc., etc. And that helps
me.

So I guess I would ask this of anyone from Cobalt who can answer my
question: What license is the CobaltOS using? Are there any plans to
Open-source Chilisoft ASP and other currently proprietary software
properties owned by Cobalt? How is cobalt supporting Linux developers
(financially and otherwise)?
