you counted right. but, every time, prior to steve`s reply, i`ve seen
plenty of annoying questions that were asked even some times a day !
some people don`t search the archives, but don`t even read the mails
they are receiving the same day they are posting.
and what`s the reaction of 50% of the posters ? now, several initial
posts begin with "sorry, i`m a newbie, so i do not search the archives".
(the search form is where you subscribe to this list, so if you are able
to subscribe, you should be able to search)
on other lists or newsgroup you do this only once, and people that
otherwise would be glad to help you, redirect your posts to /dev/null
(and so i`ve done with some)
i frequent this list for about 6 months now, and i`m REALLY getting
p***** off by this behaviour, and it get`s worse day by day.
a part of time i need to read the about 50-120 posts a day (decide for
yourself how much of them are questions that need to be answered with
STFA = search the f. archive) i could dedicate in answering interesting
questions, but as i`m not a linux guru, often i have to look up things
for myself before answering. instead, my 20-35 minutes daily that i
dedicate to this list don`t allow that anymore.
i`m tired even of answering "STFA", so maybe sooner or later i`ll
unsubscribe, as 98% of the posts on this list are pretty useless...
so, did you consider that steven could be right ? he _frequently_ tries
to help others, so he might be justified for some RTFM/STFA or
similar...
just my 0.04 Euro (i know that no one want`s it ;-)
