Hello,
first of all, please don't understand me wrong. I really like the
Cobalt box and it works really cool! :-) The patches have been working
fine for me and the support is good. I know that everyone at Cobalt
knows more about Linux and hosting than me, so I really can't
criticize anybody. :)
However, I am interested in why they don't use the most actual
versions of software on the RaQ3. E.g., Apache 1.3.6 is installed,
1.3.12 is the actual version. I am not a version junkie who needs
every -devX or pre-alpha version, I am happy if it works.
Nevertheless, I read something about problems and bugs in the old
version.
Same with some other tools, as I can take out of this ML.
Are these versions too risky to install? Do we just not need them?
Maybe someone can explain it to me. It seems that I am too new on that
biz to understand :-)
Thanks a lot,
Florian
