Will this solution work on a .pkg file?
also, could you give me some more destails such as:
should I login as admin? or root? , exact commend syntax, etc.

rpm -e the rpm name "leave off the extensions i.e. ".mips.rpm" or

I would also make sure that the process is shutdown before doing this.
