This probably shouldn't be any problem.
You should check if this line
encrypt passwords = yes
is found in the /etc/smb.conf file
Did you set the qube to be a wins server?
If not, what is in the text box?
I switch on the "be a wins server" because I don't have one on my lan.
And ofcourse it needs to play nice with my other samba server.
Do you know if there is a way of making Login scripts for users that will
map drives when they Login to the Cube?
Yup, see the example in /etc/smb.conf
Don't forget to restart samba after making changes.
/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb restart
One other thing . . . Ever since I installed the cube on the network as the
only Server I can no longer surf the internet from my LAN. Sounds crazy but
I used to surf the heck out of the net when I had NT4 as the server.
You will have to tell me a bit more of your Lan.
What does it look like?
What subnet, IP adresses, gateway are you using.
You have a router some where? Cable modem?
DSL? The Cube with Masquerading.
Are you _SURE_ that you did _NOT_ install a winsock proxy client for MS
Proxy server!!
If so uninstall it NOW. A lot of stuff breaks (I experienced it myself).
I also think the proxy performance itself is poor. Separate from the fact
that the winsock proxy client is a kludge and made my admin day grumpy. >:-|
It is highly possible that if it is installed, samba won't work well either.
This feeling crept in after reading your .sig
Saying that it does not work does not help me help you get rid of your
problem. :-)
Bye
