Apache not starting with PHP4 module (was: RE: [cobalt-users] Problem with PHP4 mysql support)

Hi there,

well I have been trying to get PHP4 to work on my RAQ3
for two days and one night now - without any success.

I reinstalled imap and mysql from the sources and then
did a

	./configure --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs
			--with-config-file-path=/etc/httpd/php4
			--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql
			--with-imap=/home/sites/home/users/admin/imap-4.7c/
			--with-gnu-ld

Then I did a make and a make install - no problems so
far. Then I edited httpd.conf and srm.conf to use the
PHP4 module instead of the PHP3 module. Then I restarted
the http daemon, or rather tried to. All that happens
is that httpd shuts down and tries to restart, but refuses
all connections on port 80. httpd status returns that
httpd is running - but I don't believe that anymore (-;

Well, by now I recompiled PHP4 more than a dozen times
w/o any success... I guess I'll give up now and return to
PHP3. At least that works ))-: Well, if anybody has any
idea, what's going on here, I'd really like to hear that (-:
