[cobalt-users] [RaQ2] OS 3.0 Update - Mail Problem username.lock

I've installed update 3.0. (Hope that wasn't a mistake.)

After the installation the POP3 locked up. Rebooting the server cleared the
problem.
Today, almost 24 hours to the minute after, the POP3 gave error messages
again. In /var/spoo/mail there were a files for every customer that had
probably checked their email. username.lock with the username matching the
POP3 username.  The server then responded with an error. FTP works fine as
does admin login via Telnet and GUI. So it's not a password problem even
though in Outlook 2000, that's how it appears. The password dialogue pops up
and even though the correct password is entered, it just keeps asking for
the password.

The content of the 24 byte .lock file would be a number that didn't
correspond to anything like
23522@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Deleting the .lock file didn't solve the problem until the server was
rebooted and the .lock file then removed. The .lock file appeared on a
username created after the problem began as well. Looking in /var/spool/mail
I saw nothing else unusual. One user had a large amount of mail. 3.24 MB,
but they were set to a 10MB limit and their site to 20MB. I have the server
set to only allow a max 2MB email size.

Simply restarting the Email Server via the GUI didn't clear the problem.

that Cobalt support reinstalled Qpopper 2.53. As the patch you got installs
ver 3.0.

I don't see any response from Cobalt on the list about this problem.

Question for anyone, especially Jeff from Cobalt, should we, (me and
Interliant), reinstall Qpopper 2.53? If so, what are the steps?

Incidentally, the OS 3.0 update doesn't show up in my Installed Software
list, even though all previous 2.xx updates have disappeared from the list.
