You could do better than that...

I once set up my mail client to send mail from "Bill Gates"
<bgates@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> just to show a friend how easy it was to spoof
email addresses (trying to convince him why he couldn't rely on email
addresses as a proof of identity; this was years ago).  I forgot I'd
left it that way, and that night wrote a request to a contact at
Waggoner-Edstrom (probably spelled wrong), Microsoft's Press
representatives; she thought the message came from Bill Gates <wry
grin>.

I fixed it and apologized to her.

And I've never done something like that again; not even in jest.
