I am using part of the LVS project (specifically LInux-HA/Heartbeat) not to
load balance but to load shape (with DNS) and handle fail-overs.  It is
pretty cool and I just got it up and running this week.  I'm not running it
on Cobalt equipment, however.

Basically it splits the load across the cluster and then if one of them
fails, another snag's its IP address and serves the failed system's load.
