if you find someone here who has the time and is willing to write you
the code, good. i don`t think so.

if you aren`t capable to do it in ".pl" (you got 2 different hints how
to do it, or what to search for) and are not willing to learn at least
some basics, you will most probably not be able to do it in php, even if
someone gives you a clue.

so RTFM !!! (if you don`t understand, just in case : read the fucking
manual). if you are not willing at least TO TRY by yourself, maybe you
should change business, or hire someone. there are enough people here
that would provide qualified commercial support.

why i`m getting angry ? it took me three nights, from after dinner until
04-05 am, to write the cgi-faq, to help folks like you that have to deal
with cgi problems. after having posted it, i have seen only few of the
former frequently questions type "cgi does not run, what do i do ?"; and
most of the remaining ones are posted by you.
but, instead of taking 15 minutes of your time for reading it and other
15 minutes to do some debugging, you bother with your annoying questions
(e.g. this one or "Universal CGI bin") lots of people which - besides
their work - are willing to assist even for free, if you *really* have a
problem, off-topic or not. so don`t exaggerate.

last comment : what to read (personal opinion)

linux : running linux, or learning redhat, o`reilly
(i think they put one of them online for free)
linux (free, online) : linux system administrator`s guide

php: don`t know
perl : learning perl, o`reilly. contains a good basic cgi chapter.

(first you should surf a bit around, using google.com, or/and read some
online articles from webmonkey to decide what could suit your needs; php
is better for dynamic websites, but perl is very helpful not only for
cgi, but for system administration and other goodies as well)

after having read this books (none of them is hard to understand; you
could do one each weekend), you`ll be able to post qualified questions
in the right place, and to help others here to return something to the
world.

end of transmission.
