In the next week or so I will be migrating a Raq2 to a Raq4. I am planning
on making this transparent to the users and so am going to be trying to move
the password files, etc. I am actually wondering if I am going to be able
to do this the way that the groups files are set up, etc.
At least I'll be able to cut and paste their passwords from their old
machines.
The process for that is to make sure that you have the user set up on the
new Raq. The actual passwords are stored in the shadowed password file
(/etc/shadow) which is only readable by root. Theoretically you should be
able to cut and paste these hashes and it should work. However I haven't
tested this (yet), so proceed at your own risk.
